Maciej Drabek, the Chief Financial Officer and Board Member at Naster S.A., shares insights into Poland’s evolving energy sector, focusing on efficiency, land management, and the challenges of working with landowners. He highlights the role of ClimateTech solutions, like those offered by KCDO, in advancing renewable energy investments.
KCDO: Can you elaborate on Naster S.A.’s role within the renewable energy sector and the anticipated challenges and opportunities in investment projects?
Maciej Drabek, Naster SA: Naster S.A. Is deeply embedded in the renewable energy sector, experiencing its substantial growth firsthand. Our goal is to harness our extensive experience to support the energy transition through innovative solutions. The growing energy demand and the shift towards renewable sources present both challenges and opportunities. Our focus is on the development of renewable energy and the integration of new technologies to address changing environmental, technical, and economic landscapes. Achieving efficient energy investments and aligning them with consumer needs is crucial, requiring us to adapt and respond to evolving conditions.
KCDO: Utilizing KCDO’s advanced technology, we conducted a comprehensive analysis covering 10,000 hectares around a point near Kęty, Lesser Poland Voivodeship. Our sophisticated algorithms pinpointed six prime, uninhabited areas near Andrychów ideal for investment, filtering through over 150 potential criteria. Could you share which criteria were pivotal in expediting the decision-making process for initiating projects on these plots or opting out if they didn’t meet your standards?
Maciej Drabek, Naster SA: Key to our swift decision-making were criteria such as the minimum plot size and its proximity to the nearest electrical substation. We strategically avoided lands with high agricultural value to sidestep the lengthy and costly conversion process to non-agricultural use. Equally vital was ensuring that the plots aligned with local urban planning guidelines or the comprehensive plan for spatial development. These criteria, among others, allowed us to finely tune our search, significantly reducing the risk associated with investment decisions. This bespoke analysis capability underscores the strategic advantage provided by KCDO technology in identifying and evaluating potential investment sites.
KCDO: How did the rapid analysis and identification of suitable investment areas by KCDO’s algorithms impact your project’s timeline?
Maciej Drabek, Naster SA: Automating the property selection process has been transformative, enabling us to swiftly navigate through the myriad of factors essential for choosing the right investment location. This efficiency in the early stages has expedited our project timelines significantly.
KCDO: Have you encountered challenges with landowners offering unsuitable plots, and how does KCDO’s analysis help mitigate this issue?
Maciej Drabek, Naster SA: Indeed, the competitive landscape in renewable energy has led to an increase in offers of unsuitable land for development. KCDO’s analytical tools have been invaluable in quickly identifying and dismissing unsuitable plots, ensuring efficiency and profitability in our land search process.
KCDO: Reflecting on your experience, would you recommend KCDO’s services to others in the industry?
Maciej Drabek, Naster SA: Our experience with KCDO has been extremely positive, enhancing our project planning and execution phases. The efficiency and alignment with our needs have confirmed our strategic approach, and we would certainly recommend KCDO’s services.
